Waiomu Domain is about 10-minute drive away from Thames. I went there along with my sister and her husband on one freezing but still fine sunday morning, just after we have attended our sunday mass.
Serenity abounded the whole bay area – with hues of green, blue, brown, white and gray being painted all over. I saw couples who jogged with their pets at the sandy beaches of Waiomu. Some even came there with their kids for their regular family-day.
For people who certainly do not want to miss having a cup of tea or coffee within the day, don’t worry because even when you are in Waiomu, you’ll still have your tea via the Waiomu Beach Cafe that’s just around the corner.
And when you do happen to visit New Zealand, you definitely have to make a part of your visit the Waiomu Summer Fair which is a community fundraising event. Music, crafts, children’s entertainment, food, white elephant, quick fire raffles, new and pre-loved apparels, books and big auction – these are just some of the much anticipated attractions when you witness the Waiomu Summer Fair.
I can say that Waiomu is one of the lovely places to bring the family together especially the kids because there is a playground which comprised of swings, see-saws, and slide.
The place is suited for having picnics as well which should be a perfect fit with the overlooking peaceful beach scenery.
There were flocks of birds chirping musically through the cold breeze of the air.
And mind you, it’s a great venue for fishing, too.
